Publix trip 9/24

This was last week's Publix trip. I paid $40.23 for everything and saved $95.67!

CVS trip 9/23

Last week I decided I needed more Starbucks Frappuccino drinks which just happened to be on sale at CVS for $4.99 each. I had a $5 off CVS coupon, but I can't remember what it was from. So I worked out a deal to use it and get my frap drinks cheaper than $9.98.

Bayer Contour Monitor $14.99 each
- $10/1 MQ
$4.99 each
Earned $5 ECBs = Free!
(There was a rebate form inside so I was really excited about this being a money maker! Then I noticed the form had expired already. It had a number to call so I'm still deciding if it's worth it or not.)

2 Revlon lipstick $6.99 each
- $2/1 peelies
$4.99 each
Earned $5 ECBs = Free!

2 Starbucks Fraps $4.99 each

Used $5 coupon

Total paid $15 ECBs, paid $5.76 OOP
Earned $15 ECBs

By buying the Bayer monitor (that I will donate) and the lipsticks, I was able to work out a better deal than if I had just went in and purchased what I wanted!

Walgreens trip 9/20

So I decided to try my hand at Walgreens again. This time I only went in for deals that used coupons, but didn't include any RR. And I'm glad I did! I did very well and even *gasp* got overage from my coupons!! Shocker. Two of my coupons beeped, but the cashier looked at them and said I got the item, so she put them through.

- $4/1 coupon
$.01 overage on each

6 Cream of Chicken soup $.79 (with in-ad Q)

Since I shopped Saturday night and the previous week had a sale on Revlon, the lipsticks didn't ring up as the new ad prices, but instead rang up for the previous sale. So I paid the previous sale prices, but the cashier printed out my ECBs. I ended up making $1 more in ECBs than I would have.

Revlon Lip Gloss $7.99 each

Net Cost for everything pictured above was $1.35!!! I saved approx. 98%!!

Total paid $24.93 OOP, saved $52.12. Not my best trip, but I still saved about 68% on stuff we need and use! I'm really enjoying couponing and so is my family. I would never buy trail mix before because of the cost. I just didn't know I could get it for a quarter a bag! Now we always have trail mix or Chex mix to munch on. I love it!

Publix trip 9/16

Awesome trip at Publix last Thursday!! I accidentally saved more than I should have though. My list showed me buying 4 bottles of the BBQ sauce so I had 4 coupons clipped, but for some reason I only grabbed 2 bottles. I forgot to take out the extra coupons, they scanned without beeping, therefore I saved $1.50 extra on my purchase.

Walgreens trip 9/12

This was a crazy Walgreens trip. Two stores and seven transactions! I had things all planned out, but then I got off plan and went crazy. I ended up spending a total of $2 RR and $16.12 OOP. I earned RR on the toothpaste and Impruv lotion, but spent them all before I left the store. I think my *cost* for everything was $17.14, but 'm having trouble figuring it all out.

Since these deals are from last week anyways, I'm just going to give a summary of what I bought.

17 bags of chex mix $.99 each
- $.50/1 MQ on each
$.49 each or $8.33 total

10 Trident gum $1.00 each
- $1/2 SQ monthly coupon booklet
$.50 each or $5.00 total

Children's Tylenol $1.74 (this was a filler I found on clearance)

Hasbro card game $1.62 (another filler I found on clearance)

3 Colgate $2.99 each
- $1/1 MQ
$1.99 each
Earned $2 RR each

2 Impruv Lotion $4.99 each
- $2/1 MQ
$2.99 each
Earned $4.99 RR each

Again, everything may not add up right. It was very confusing so I'm just looking at the bottom line. $16.12 came out of my wallet for all of the above stuff and my receipt total savings is $88.31. One of the problems which confuses the whole thing is that I forgot to give one of my $2/1 coupons. The manager was very nice about it and refunded it to me, but instead of $2 I got $2.14, so I got back the tax on the coupon. Strange, but I'll take it.

CVS trip 9/11

Finally found time to blog! Well, I should be doing something else, but it's about time I get caught up here. I had an awesome CVS trip last Saturday night! I got everything pictured at two different stores and three transactions. I had two $/$$ coupons from the coupon kiosk to use!

Transaction #1

This is a tiny package, with only 7 cookies! But I needed the extra $1 on my subtotal so I could use my $3/$10 grocery SQ from the kiosk.

$.88 each

Net cost $2.04!!!

I noticed there was an extra $1 coupon deducted that I couldn't account for. Now looking at Trans. #3, I noticed that one of the $1/1 Air Wick coupons is missing. I'm guessing I accidentally handed it over with Trans. #2 instead. Overall, it washes out.

Transaction #3

- one $1/1 Air Wick Aqua Mist Printable
- two B1G1 Air Wick Aqua Mist 8/8/10 SS

Walgreens Deals for 9/12 - 9/18

Yes, I know I said I don't like Walgreens very much. Yes, it's a hassle to figure out the RRs. Yes, I should probably just stay away. But who can resist free toothpaste and $.49 Chex Mix?! So since I'm already planning out my trip for next week, I thought I would post ahead of time what I'm getting and how I'm getting it. That way, you can also get these same deals.

Special thanks to Wild for Wags and Amit19 Deals World for the sneak preview of next week's ad.

Since I plan on paying with RRs and I have coupons for every item I'm buying, I plan on using Kraft Mac-n-Cheese as my filler. It will be $.69 each with the in-ad coupon.

I am planning my trip out completely beforehand this time so I don't get to the store and mess up. I'm not completely sure how I'm going to do everything yet. I printed 2 of the lotion coupons so I can do that deal twice and use the $4 RR to pay for some of my Chex Mix and Bugles. With the $2.02 overage, I'll get some free food!

CVS trips 9/9

Leanna had her first dance class this afternoon and we just so happened to pass 2 CVS stores that I haven't been to yet. We probably passed 3 stores total, without going out of the way, isn't that sad?? LOL So I made good use of our time and got the rest of my SoBes. I am now out of coupons. And since everyone should know what they look like by now, I left them in the garage instead of lugging them inside for a pic.

Store #1
12 SoBe BOGO @ $1.59 each
- BOGO coupon
Free

Total paid OOP $.67 in tax.

Store #2
12 SoBe BOGO @ $1.59 each
- BOGO coupon

Air Wick i-Motion Freshmatic Compact kit $4.99 each
- $4/1 MQ
$.99 each

Revlon Mascara $7.99 each
- $1/1 MQ
$6.99 each

Revlon Eye Shadow $4.99 each
- $1/1 MQ
$3.99 each

Earn $5 ECBs WYB 2 Revlon eye/lip products.

I did the happy dance when I got another $3/$10 in groceries from the coupon kiosk! My 12 SoBes counted as my $10+ in grocery items and I was able to use the $3 off towards my make-up.

Paid $6 ECBs, paid $4.62 OOP.
Earned $5 ECBs.

I "rolled" the $5 ECBs and the extra $1 ECB was from my green bag tag. I used that to pay for the Air Wick, making it free.

To show how shopping at CVS is saving me money compared to how I used to shop, consider this example. I needed new mascara because mine needs to be replaced. Normally, I would head over to Target and buy Maybelline (because it's cheapest) for $3.99 with a $1/1 coupon, making it $2.99 or $3.27 after tax. Today I paid $1.35 more than I would have normally spent, but I also got a higher quality mascara, eye shadow, an air freshener and 12 bottled drinks! Without the free SoBes, I couldn't have used the $3/$10 coupon. So by buying free drinks, I saved $3 that I could apply towards the cost of my make-up. Now you can see why CVS is my new favorite store!!

Walgreens trip 9/7

Have I mentioned that shopping Walgreens can be tricky? Well, it can be and I messed up. I "lost" $2 RR on the Quaker oats and was mad at myself. The cashier got me flustered because she gave me a hassle about my $2 coupon for the $1.99 pet food. The last coupon made the register beep so she just handed me back the coupon and said she couldn't take it. I said, no, it just needs to be adjusted. Oh but she can't do that. Well, I have your coupon policy printed out that says you have to. So she had to call a manager who took care of it with no problem. But it left me flustered, irritated and I was thinking right so I paid for the second transaction of oatmeal with the $2 RR I had earned on the first. She snapped at me that it didn't print because I had done that and I wanted to cry. Oh well, live and learn.

Transaction #1
8 Purina One pet food (4 cat, 4 dog) $1.99 each
- $2/1 MQ
$.07 overage because only the last coupon was adjusted, the others came off at $2

Quaker Oats 2/$5
- $1/1 tearpad coupon
$1.50 each
Earned $2 RR

Pencil (filler item) $.09

Paid $2 RR, paid $2.14 OOP
Earned $2 RR

Transaction #2
Quaker Oats 2/$5
- $1/1 tearpad coupon
$1.50 each
Didn't earn my $2 RR because of my mess-up *cry*

Pencil (filler item) $.09

Paid $2 RR, paid $1.09 OOP

Transaction #3
St. Ives body wash $2.99 each
Earned $2 RR

Pencil (filler item) $.09

Paid $2 RR, paid $1.29 OOP
Earned $2 RR

I have $2 RR left from the body wash, but I should have had $4 RR left. Oh well. I really want to just spend them all and not have to worry about finding something else to spend them on. Next week is free toothpaste though so I'm sure I'll be back.

Three CVS trips in one night! Craziness! 9/7

Yes, we hit 3 different CVS stores in one night in an attempt to get as much free SoBe as possible. I know, it's sad. But that stuff is good! And I ended up getting some really great deals!!

Store #1

King-sized 3 Muskteers 2/$2
- $.75 off a king sized candy from the coupon kiosk
$.25 each (it's not in the picture because I ate it that night. I needed my energy!)

2 Raisin Bran 15 oz. $1.77 each
- $1/2 MQ
$1.27 each

8 SoBe BOGO @ $1.59 each
- BOGO coupon
Free

I used a $3/$10 grocery coupon that I got from the coupon kiosk! Always, give this type ($/$$) coupon FIRST when your subtotal is highest. If I had given my other coupons first, my total wouldn't have been above $10 and I wouldn't have been able to use it.

My subtotal after the $3/$10 coupon was -$.21!! ($1.27 + $1.27 + $.25 - $3) Tax was $.38 so I only paid the difference.

OOP was $.17 for 11 items!! The best part? This didn't include any ECBs so the $.17 was a true OOP! I saved $21.60 on this trip when my merchandise value was only $21.39! 101% savings!

Store #2

10 SoBe BOGO @ $1.59 each
- BOGO coupon
Free

Wisk detergent BOGO @ $8.99 each (one rang up $8.49 so I'm guessing the blue one was the higher price and I got the lower priced one free)
- $3/1 MQ
$1.50 each

Total paid OOP $4.18. Total saved $30.39! 91% (pre-tax) savings!

Store #3

I got another one of those $10/$50 coupons from the kiosk so I figured if I could get my total up to $40 (pre-coupon), I could get $10 of free stuff. I hit the jackpot at the 75% clearance! My total should have been $1 more because she accidentally scanned my milk coupon twice and I only had one. I didn't realize this until we were in the car driving home.

2 TG Lee $2.99 each
- $1/1 MQ
$1.99 each (not pictured because I put it away already)

10 SoBe BOGO @ $1.59 each
- BOGO coupon
Free

Noxema face stuff $2.99 each (for my sister, she still owes me $3 for it!)

Disney Princess dress-up shoes $1.50 each

LPS Lamb set $2.49 each

3 Lil' Kinz Webkinz $1.75 each

Less $10/$50 coupon from the kiosk.

Total paid OOP $7.57. Total saved $75.81! 92% (pre-tax) savings!

In all three trips, I got $136.79 in merchandise (pre-tax) and only paid $11.92 OOP (including tax)!!! This is all stuff we definitely use and I got some Christmas shopping done for my kids!

Walmart trip 9/4

Yes, I did the unimaginable. I went to Walmart. The need for free dish soap drove me there. And I have to admit, it was the best Walmart experience I've had in probably 4 years. But no, I won't be going back any time soon.

9 Gain 11 oz. dish soap $.97
- $1/1 any size Gain 8/29 P&G
Free + $.03 overage!

Juicy Fruit gum $.88 each
(I had $.27 overage to "eat up", I have enough chocolate, so I grabbed a pack of gum.)

Total paid $1.29 and $.68 of that was tax. I paid more in sales tax than I did for 9 bottles of soap and a pack of gum!

CVS 9/4 trip #2

I am sure I took a picture of the stuff from this trip, but it wasn't on the camera. Oh well, the stuff is already out in our garage and I'm not dragging it back in.

8 SoBe drinks BOGO @ $1.59 each
- BOGO coupon from Heads or Tails game
Free

2 Wisk BOGO @ $8.49 each
- $3/1 coupons
$1.25 each

Walgreens trip 9/4

This Walgreens trip was quite the experience. The manager was rude and a cashier were both pretty rude. And I'm pretty sure the manager lied to me. I used a $2/1 coupon for a $1.50 item and she adjusted the coupon down to not give the overage. I was completely fine with that, but I wasn't fine with her telling me that the store doesn't get the overage. I'm pretty sure that's not true. But whatever. Walgreens is not my favorite store and unless the deal is great, I usually avoid it.

7 Purina One Dog food 6 oz. 2/$3 (these rang up $1.99 each which is what started the whole fiasco)
- $2/1 coupon adjusted down to $1.50/1
Free

7 Purina One Cat food 6 oz. 2/$3 (these rang up $1.99 each also)

Here are a few new coupons you might want to print.

The Target $1 off produce coupon is back!! Use it at Target or at Publix if your store considers them a competitor. There are also a few other new Target ones so be sure to click through all of them. I printed the $.50 off Market Pantry bread since my family goes through bread so fast.

Then head over to the Classico website.
There is a $1/1 Classico spaghetti sauce (44 oz jar).
Print it twice and hold on to it for a BOGO sale at Publix!

$.26 each

2 Newman's Own Pasa Sauce BOGO @ $2.69

Zeal for a Deal

Publix trip 9/2

I like shopping Publix on Thursday, the day the new ad starts, and getting it out of the way for the week. I had another great trip today. Well, other than the fact that my 4 kids drove me nuts pretty much the entire time we were in the store! Leanna is now obsessed with collecting tickets/coupons/blinkies for her "game." Yes, my daughter plays with coupons. The boys were just mischievous as usual. And I was tired, having just come from 2 hours at the dentist with all of them. But we survived, although the "I hafta go pooooootty" when we were just getting to the check-out nearly sent me over the edge. I got some great deals, a couple free things, a little overage, and plenty of meat and fresh produce! Not pictured are the two Boston butt roasts (for pulled pork!) and the two pork spareribs. I added up just the produce and meat (not counting the hotdogs - are those meat!? LOL) and the total was about $38. It brings my savings percentage down, but Tim won't have to say that I'm buying all snack type food and nothing to cook with. I also got a few things for our donation pile.

A few of the best deals:

CVS trip 8/31

Yes, I realize I was just at two different CVS stores yesterday. So why did I go back again tonight? Well, last night the wonderful coupon kiosk gave me a $6 off any Prevacid SQ!! And I remembered from the ad that there is an ECB deal this week. And I knew that there was a $4/1 MQ out there. But unfortunately, I didn't have the $4/1 coupon with me. Then there was the fact that my printer was completely out of black ink and wouldn't print any more coupons. And I remembered that CVS had a HP ink cartridge deal (buy 2, save $10) and that by buying those high price items, I could use one of the many $10/$50 SQs I've been getting from the kiosk. Score! And I wanted to do the cereal/milk ECB deal and the stores last night didn't have the cereal I wanted. Besides, since learning that you can get so much stuff at CVS for so little, it's become one of my favorite stores. I was a little disappointed tonight though when the kiosk didn't spit out even one coupon for me. Bummer.

Transaction #1
2 HP 94 Black ink cartridges $27.99 each
- $10 instant savings WYB 2 HP cartridges
$22.99 each

I just checked a Sam's Club receipt to do a price comparison. I bought a 3-pack of HP cartridges, 2 black and 1 color, for $68.32, or $22.77 each. I wouldn't have been able to use my $10/$50 SQ if I didn't buy the cartridges, so I'm applying that $10 savings towards these, making them $17.99 each. That beats Sam's Club price!

Prevacid 42 ct. $24.99
- $6 SQ from kiosk
- $4/1 MQ
$14.99
Earned $7 ECBs

Paid $6.99 ECBs, paid $46.75 OOP
Earned $7 ECB

I didn't want to use more of my ECBs for this because I didn't want to waste them on a normal household expense like printer ink. Selfish? Maybe, but I'm stingy with my ECBs.

Transaction #2
TG Lee milk $3.19
- $1/1 MQ from their website (you can print 2 every 2 months)
$2.19

Raisin Bran Crunch 2/$6
- $1/2 MQ
$2.50 each
Earned $3 ECBs for buying 2 cereals and milk

Paid $7 ECBs, paid $.19 OOP
Earned $3 ECBs

$4.19 for 2 boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk is really great in my book! This deal has a limit of 2 so I plan on going back for more before the end of the week. I started out with $25.99 ECBs and ended with $22 ECBs. For $4 ECBs and $50.94 OOP, I got all of the above items. Somewhere else, the ink cartridges alone would have cost about $45 or a little higher. See why I love CVS?
